WE’RE IN THE BUSINESS OF BUILDING BEAUTIFUL HUMANS.
AND THAT IS SOMETHING YOUR CLIENTS SHOULD KNOW!

HELLO EVERYONE AND WELCOME BACK

I WAS RECENTLY CHATTING TO A NEW CLIENT
[ THANK YOU JULIE]
AND WE WERE DISCUSSING ” ALL THE THINGS” WE, AS DANCE TEACHERS BRING TO OUR DANCE STUDENTS.

As the conversation became more and more excited and inspiring,
I thought to myself –
“I really need to share this information with all my clients and contacts”.

So today I want to share with you just that.

I want to raise your awareness to see, that many of you maybe selling yourselves short in promoting your businesses and dance classes. And that you are not alone, if you are now questioning the predominance of competition culture and winning, over a culture of learning, developing and expressing.

For example – many teachers have expressed dismay that there seems to be no value in the process anymore, but rather the parents are just wanting trophies and Honours results in examinations, for social media posts.
And my answer to that is this.

I suggest that you educate your parents and clients, as to what you are really teaching their children and what it is all about for you. And if you are what I call an ” old school ” teacher with an ” old school mindset” then you will most likely be thinking along the lines of the following.

” Here at our dance academy we are building beautiful humans through the arts and dance. And through these art forms we are teaching your children the following skills:

* Creativity
* Confidence
* Resilience
* Team Building
* Community Spirit
* Self- Motivation
* Time Management
* Responsibility
* Courage
* Respect
* Determination
* Self-Confidence
* Arts Appreciation
* Music Appreciation
* Commitment
* Responsibility
* Accountability
* Sportsmanship

These skills are built through learning new technical skills, overcoming challenges, meeting deadlines for performances and examinations, controlling nerves, and forging ahead when experiencing self-doubt and anxiety.
And all of this is done whilst building new friendships and experiencing the JOY of movement, music, dance , rhythm and self expression.

Sure – there maybe a trophy involved or a great exam result – but the achievement is in the learning that garnered the result. And the success is found in the skills that were fine tuned through the process.

And this is the message,
that perhaps you need to start reiterating to your clients.

So my message to you all today, is that it may be time to re-evaluate just what you are teaching your students and to reframe that process and ideal with all your students, teachers and parents.
Once your entire community is in alignment with this message, you may be surprised at just how much the enjoyment and culture at your dance school may pivot in your community and classes.

It all comes from the top.

And you have the power to create the culture you seek within your dance school!

You may just have to remind your parents and clients of all the extras you bring to their children’s lives.

Like my client Julie said:

” We are building beautiful humans through the arts!”

I love that statement!
