TODAY’S TAP TIP – USING ACCENT!

If you want to give your tapping a better sound then really focus on
the use of accent! A simple tip is to make sure that whenever you do a
series of the same sound – for example, a series of STAMPS, make one
of them louder than the rest. Lighten the others in the series and you
will have added some nice light and shade to the rhythm. In any
rhythmic phrase, also look at which sounds are heavier than the rest
and which are more subdued. If every phrase has a definitive accent the
resulting sound is far more interesting to the listener. It creates
“melody” within the percussive elements of tap! I use these concepts in
all my chore and rhythms and they work a treat, adding nice dynamics to
the sound! Try it out yourself! HAVE FUN!! – Christine

DAVE SHEATHER TALKS TAPATAK OZ

“If you own your own dance school and haven’t yet heard of [2]Tapatak
Oz, then listen up! People all over the world are talking about it!

It’s modern, It’s fun (for both Teachers AND Students), It’s full of
exciting, comprehensive yet intricate rhythms and canons! It’s
incredibly well-structured and promotes the students to develop
personality and individuality in their performances!

Tapatak Oz CAN be a stand alone Tap system with exams and the whole
deal, however, If you currently own a different syllabus and don’t want
to change, it’s all good! It’s also a great option as an add-on to your
current tap setup. All you have to do grab the level you want and
you’ll have a pile of new combos that will challenge and excite your
students (and teachers)!

Personally, I have been teaching Tapatak Oz for over a year to 6
different dance schools in Brisbane and now I’m teaching it 5 days a
week and loving every day!

If you want to know more about this exciting new Tap system,
go to [3]www.tapatakoz.com.au, watch the sample videos to get an idea
of each level and get in on the hype!”

TAPATAK OZ TEACHER’S CONFERENCE

Our first ever Teacher’s Conference was held this past January at The
Village Performing Arts Centre, in Sydney, NSW. It was a great three
days that allowed TAPATAK OZ teachers to come together, share ideas and
spend quality time with Christine, personally working through the
syllabus. This valuable time was a great way to recharge the batteries
for the coming year and was a huge success! In 2013 we will be
expanding this Conference to include BRISBANE, QLD – where we have a
large following of very eager teachers embracing the TAPATAK OZ
SYLLABUS! If you are keen to attend the Teachers Conference in 2013 –
the locations will be SYDNEY, NSW and BRISBANE, QLD…….and we could
even make a trip to PERTH, WA!!! We will keep you up to date via our
Newsletter and locations and dates will be released later in the year.
But early – mid January will be the general time!! For info email:
[6]info@tapatakoz.com.au! We look forward to seeing you for three days
